Christmas in July

The ACT Vegetarian Society in conjunction with Animal Liberation ACT will be holding a Christmas in July lunch. So come along and meet some fellow vegetarians and vegans. We will also be holding a couple of fundraising activities on the day with all money raised going to A Poultry Place.

A Poultry Place is a sanctuary for many special residents including ducks, chickens, roosters, geese and peacocks to name a few, who would otherwise suffer a horrible ending in life. Details are as follows:

Date: Saturday 17 July 2010

Time: 12.30 pm start until approx 2/2:30 pm

Location: Legends Spanish Restaurant, 17 Franklin Street Manuka

Meal: 3 course vegan banquet lunch (specially catered) comprising six tapas of artichoke hearts, asparagus spears, champinones, baked zucchini, potato wedges and spanish salad. First course is paella and for dessert churros (spanish doughnut sticks rolled in cinnamon sugar).

Cost: $40 per person and dig deep if you can for A Poultry Place. Meal cost will need to be prepaid to secure your booking by 10 July 2010 (payment details will be provided on RSVP).

RSVP: rsvp@vegetariansociety.org.au by 3 July 2010 to confirm your attendance.

Further details of the days fundraising activities will follow at a later date.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Recent events

On 27 March 2010, the Committee set up a vegetarian stall at the Harvest Festival in Acton, Canberra. It was a successful day with lots of interest and nearly all of our goodies sold.

A special thanks to Natasha, Tracey, Charis , Helen and Jyoti for the baking and raising about $300 in funds for the society!

Events are not exclusively for members or for vegetarians only. If you would like to find out more about vegetarianism or just enjoy the event come long and say g'day.

Do you have a suggestion for a Vegevent? How about a talk, a walk, a dinner or lunch? Know a good eating spot (doesn't need to be a Vegetarian restaurant - just one that caters for vegetarians). We're open to suggestions - email us.
